CUBAN AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION TO HOST INAUGURAL CONVENTION AND JUDICIAL LUNCHEON

MIAMI — July 18, 2025 – The Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) will host its 2025 Inaugural Convention and Judicial Luncheon on August 7-8, 2025, at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Coconut Grove.

This year’s judicial luncheon will center on the official naming of the new courthouse in honor of the late attorney Osvaldo N. Soto (1929-2021). This tribute not only recognizes Soto’s distinguished legal career and lasting contributions to the community but also marks a historic milestone: the first courthouse in the state of Florida to be named after a Hispanic individual.

“It is with immense pride that we celebrate the legal legacy of Osvaldo Soto in this way,” said Amanda Fernandez, president of CABA. “His life was dedicated to ensuring that all people receive justice. Naming the new courthouse in his honor confirms that principle.”

The two days of programming include four Continuing Legal Education sessions (CLE) featuring legal professionals, judges, elected officials, and community leaders. The topics include:

• Behind the Bills: 2025 Florida Legislative Recap: Speakers include State Sen. Ana Maria Rodriguez, State Rep. Mike Redondo and State Sen. Ileana Garcia. Moderated by Haydee Sera, partner, Weiss Serota Helfman Cole + Bierman.

Thursday, August 7 at 4:15 p.m.:

• Game On: Legal and Economic Impact of the 2026 World Cup in Miami: Speakers include Miami-Dade County Mayor, Daniela Levine Cava, Alina Hudak, president and CEO Miami 2026 World Cup Host Committee and Lynn Carillo, director of commercial legal at FIFA. Moderated by Jorge Fors Jr., partner, Fors Legal.
